I had the pleasure of biking from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela with Tripsite. This was an adventure I will treasure for the remainder of my life. I began my tour by visiting Porto, Portugal with my guide, Diogo. I enjoyed seeing the town through the eyes of a resident who provided many interesting facts about the city and it’s inhabitants. The next morning I received my bike and began my ride. The areas I saw over the next three days was beautiful beyond description. The temperature was quite warm for the month of October and I enjoyed stopping and taking pictures of the Atlantic Coast along my ride. Once I left the coastline I traveled through small towns, vineyards and forests. The entire journey left you speechless admiring the beauty of Portugal and Spain. I checked in with my host guide Sergio daily who treated me as if I was family. I highly recommend the use of Tripsite for biking opportunities in Portugal and Spain. The only recommendation I would like to offer to your clients is to train on hilly terrain before attempting to make this trip. It was challenging over the last three days of my trip.

Our trip to Hadrian’s Wall and the Northern Lake District of England was advertised as moderate but we felt it was more difficult. Having ridden at least a half dozen other tours we found this the only one mislabeled. The difficulty of the hills coupled with gearing that was too high made for some long, hard days. Trip site uses Hooked on Cycling as there local tour manager in England. It was apparent that the ride had not been reviewed recently as we found several changes that should have been made and navigating them cost us time and energy. Some of the sites were definitely worthwhile. Riding along a trail through the moors where heather covered the hills to the horizon and through parkland where goats and sheep roamed wild were high points as was touring the Roman fort in Corbridge.

This – Bruges to Amsterdam on the Merlijn – was our second Tripsite bike & barge trip. We loved the first one (Danube, Passau to Vienna) and it just gets better! The Merlijn is truly splendid, Every amenity and comfort is included, from ice packs for tired knees to a drying closet for damp clothes and shoes. Cabin spaces are expertly organized and bathrooms are lovely. All this in an atmosphere of elegance and luxury with an excellent bar, delicious and plentiful gourmet food, a beautiful and comfortable lounge area and the nicest staff ever (Jantien is the greatest!). Top it off with gorgeous cycling routes, informative and delightful biking guided, top-of-the-line bikes p, and returning each evening to flowers blooming on deck and a welcoming treat. We were in heaven! Rave review!

Haven’t left yet, so can’t give a review of the barge, just wanted to say that Mary was terrific in helping organize our trip. All the bike/barge tours in Italy were sold out for this season and she found a last minute cancellation that fit our schedule perfectly. We received great documentation with implicit directions for finding the boat and all kinds of useful info. Good company to work with.

Pack and Pedal was a terrific company to plan a bike and sailing trip through Croatia. Their team of expert travel specialists provided us with thorough and complete details on just about everything that we would have wanted to know about our travel adventure. They responded to questions in a timely manner and were very pleasant.

Pack & Pedal suggested a hotel in Amsterdam that was perfect for us in location and amenities. They gave excellent, detailed instructions for finding our barge, what clothes to take, what weather to expect. I was nice and warm even when we rode for 2 days in 40ºF, rainy, windy weather. HAT Tours provided a clean, efficient barge with ample cabin space and plenty of good meals. There were no unpleasant surprises.

We had a very enjoyable bike and barge experience in Holland. Really appreciated the help Pack and Pedal gave us in choosing a trip and selecting a comfortable barge. Provided extra support with good information about what to expect, hotel recommendations for a post trip stay, and information related to our trip.

Two years ago I was looking for a company that could help me organize a bike/barge European tour for 22 people and where we would be able to write a contract for the use of an entire barge. Pack and Pedal came through and were most helpful in accomplishing that for me. Our group is using them again this year to organize another European bike/barge trip. They are very knowledgable about Europe and what it has to offer.

We had a wonderful, independent cycling trip in Holland. Foolish us had forgotten to anticipate the constant wind, though. That made us stronger bikers by the last trip day! Hotels were all accommodating and they were all prepared for our arrival. Maps and cue sheets were very complete and detiled enough that we created a few shortcuts. The local representative was very accommodating and quickly rearranged a scheduled taxi pick-up when we missed our train connection. After experiencing two trips, I will return to Pack and Pedal.
