Tourissimo did a wonderful job of fulfilling our expectations of a dream bicycle trip in Tuscany. The tour was well planned with a terrific variety of food and culture mixed in with scenic bike riding. The accommodations were comfortable, and meals were delicious, delightful, and fun. Our guides, Domenico and Massimo, were well organized, and they attended to every detail with humor and charm – true friends by the end of the tour. The E-bike option was great for both my wife and I. We have very different bicycling skills and it allowed us to stay together during the rides. It also allowed us to head into the evening activities with a nice reserve of energy after a lot of serious hill climbs during the day. It was really fun seeing places in Italy that were not your typical “tourist stops”. We would take another tour with Tourissimo in a heartbeat. Thank you for the adventure.

Best trip ever! Tuscany is not to be missed. The sites, the food, the people, outstanding. I highly recommend Tourissimo. Very good guides, routes, accommodations.

The opportunity to participate in the 2018 Tourissimo bike tour of Piemonte was an unimaginable gift of good fortune. It is apparent that much thought went in to planning the tour. I cannot say enough for Beppe, Alessandra and Heather. Their caring, minute by minute involvement; knowledge of the region and engagement with all of the participants gave the feeling of a family outing with a group of distant relatives.
The beauty of the Piemonte countryside is breathtaking. Riding a bicycle through this vividly picturesque agricultural region, allowed a more rich and intimate experience of Piemonte that would never have happened in a car or tour bus.
The hotels were wonderful in their understated luxury. Meals ranged from the “mind blowing” meal at Piazza Duomo in Alba to the equally memorable roadside lunch of bread, cheese and cured sausage on the last day of the ride. Some meals were repetitive in style and content, the agritourismo fell short of truly reflecting the bounty of the region. I think a farmhouse meal or a dinner from an osteria would have been appropriate, there were meals that didn’t need to be grand experiences. The Slow Food discussion was fantastic and uniquely informative, as well as the winery tours, particularly that of Fontanafredda.
A market place tour would also have provided a more complete understanding of the relationship between the agriculture and cuisine of the region.
All in all, a wonderful experience I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

My wife and I just had the best vacation of our lives thanks to Tourissimo’s Bike/Chef Tour of Sicily. Beppe Salerno, Heather Dowd, and their amazing team demonstrated exquisite planning to bring together a diverse (and very fun) group of foodie-adventure travelers. Western Sicily and its beauty and its food may have been the stars of the show, but there was no question Beppe was the conductor. In addition to the cycling support and route planning, Beppe and team planned a cultural lesson– ranging from a meet and greet with a Sicilian author to the Anti Mafia Museum in Corleone, to exploring ruins and learning about the tuna and the sea salt industries over the past centuries. And then there was the food. This trip had it all. E-bikes were a great option for some of our participants (including my wife) so we could all fully participate in the routes. I also appreciated the independence we were given to pedal ahead of the pack or stop for photo ops. The bikes had the routes programmed into the Garmins and the road bikes were fantastic Bianchi infinitos. WHEN (not if) we do another cycling trip of Italy, we will DEFINITELY book with Beppe and Heather!

Tourissimo is the only way to travel by bike or hike in Italy. The local insight and knowledge on what roads to ride, which hotels to stay and most importantly where to stop for food and drink are where Tourissimo shine. The well planned, organized and passionate owners and local guides are extremely in tune with culinary traditions and oenology and could easily double for chefs and sommeliers (in fact I believe Beppe is) not to mention they also ride all day as guides. Beppe and Heather are running a unique operation for a truly one of a kind Italy experience.

The Emilia and Romagna chefs’ tours took us to less-traveled areas in Italy, full of good food, varied terrain and production, and amazing views from mountains to the sea. The chefs enlightened us about their lives and work, and by questioning local Italian chefs cook helped us learn about local ingredients. We visited cooking schools, cheese production farms, olive oil, wine and balsamic vinegar producers, sampled everywhere, learned about the finest cheeses, cured meats, “sweet” salt, vinegar, wines, vegetables, and everything else the regions have to offer. The guides are locals and so knowledgeable! The riding was varied so everyone on the tour regardless of cycling experience enjoyed it, whether gentle exercise with an e-wheel or a demanding workout. Routes were on mostly quiet roads through small towns, past incredible vistas from the hilltops. Bikes, relaxing, luxurious hotels, tastings and facility tours all equaled or were better than any other tour we have taken. Pick up at the airport and return to local train/airport, all caffe and gelati stops, and wines (or beers or other drinks) for aperitivo and with dinners are included in the tour price. Tourissimo is the best company we have traveled with in our over 20 bike tours over the last 9 years.
