Summerfeet

Summerfeet

This tour company operates in three of our favorite bike touring regions:: New England, Nova Scotia and New Zealand. They focus on giving you rare "behind the scenes" glimpses into these areas, with their expert guides providing activities and trips to out-of-the-way spots which are usually privy only to locals. There are a wide array of options, such as a a 3-day or 6-day Maine bicycling adventure, a 7-day Nova Scotia cycling trip or an extended 13-day New Zealand bike tour. As with many of the boutique operators, Summerfeet is willing to work with you on customizing the trip to fit your desires.

Just got back from Maine’s Gold Coast Camden and Acadia bike tour. What a great experience from Wilson, our guide, to accommodations and food. Plus, a day of kayaking and schooner trips. First class! Can’t wait to do another trip with them. Our group could have been up to 12 people, but ours was only the 2 of us and Norman did not cancel the trip. Unbelievable. We couldn’t have been happier with Summer Feet. For the price we got our money’s worth, that is for sure. Food was anything on the menu at expensive restaurants, 4 star accommodations. We only had to pay for 1 dinner and 1 lunch and alcohol. Bike included as well. Our guide, Wilson, was very professional, full of information about all the local sights right down to the reason ponds formed from beaver activity, local hangouts, great places for beverages, shopping, how to access areas by foot on our own time… Too much good stuff to write.

We had a nice time but it didnt compare to what we have received in the past with Backroads or more recently CycleGreece. There didn’t seem to be any thought into the routes. The meals were at very average restaurants. The leaders were nice, good with the bikes but not trained for the other aspects of leadership. One day we rode on an island and they didnt know until we arrived at that only one small grocery was open. So we ate at a grimey hole in the wall – if they had planned in advance we could have prepared and brought a picnic and enjoyed the island instead of being in that awful place with awful food. Many other examples of lack of planning but too lengthy to go on.

Great trip on Pedal the Coast this June. Beautiful riding, comfortable inns, good food, nice people, small group, well planned. The people from SummerFeet are very flexible and accommodating, much more so than the bigger tour companies. This trip provides the opportunity to do some serious riding, but with a relaxed attitude which accommodated a wide variety of riding levels. Highly recommended.

Just an all around great trip! Maine is beautiful and Summer Feet allowed us to enjoy it all with a worry free trip. Wonderful and friendly support. Days and evenings were well organized and the bike rides were fabulous. Acadia National Park was incredible. Rides were fun and scenery was amazing. Thanks Summer Feet for the perfect trip!
