I recently returned from a custom 7 day tour for 10 people through the Palermo/Marsala/Cefalu region of Sicily. Siciclando put together an extremely professional trip that provided an authentic Sicilian experience for 10 riders of varied ability. The bikes were fantastic, the itineraries challenging but fun, the food and lodging were top notch. This is my third guided bike tour (Costa Rica, California, and Sicily) and Siciclando stands out as the best of the companies that I’ve used. I highly recommend using Siciclando

It’s difficult to write a review for Siciclando because there are so many reviews that are right on: it’s an amazing organization with wonderful owners and guides. Dario and Giuseppe, the owners, can’t be beat. In order to say they are the best in a different way, let us first say that we like adventure as well as learning when we travel. We have taken custom biking trips in Sikkim, India (in the foothills of the Himalayas), the Mekong Delta in Vietnam, Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Jordan (Mt Nebo to the Dead Sea), and Morocco (High Atlas Mtns to the Sahara), among others. While we enjoyed the above bike trips very much, there is something uniquely different with Siciclando. After our first tour with Siciclando (Apulia/Basilicata) in 2013 we were hooked. We went back every year since (Sicily/Aeolian Islands,2014; Le Marque/Umbria/Tuscany 2015; Liguria/Piedmont 2016). We have traveled in Italy without bikes numerous times before and know the country pretty well.

The Maremma tour through southern Tuscany was fabulous. My wife and I had a fantastic time w/ great food, wonderful guides of some of the hill towns and challenging hill climbs. We were attended to by Daniele who was extremely attentive, funny and knowledgeable. Our tour guide in Florence and Rome was recommended by Siciclando and Cinzia was great. We plan to come back to Italy and tour again w/ Siciclando.

My teenage sons and I have just returned from a family holiday with Siciclando on their taste of Sicily tour which we absolutely loved every minute of. The tour is a perfect mix of beautiful scenery, ancient history, culture and enough exercise on the bikes to allow us to indulge in the superb local cuisine. The standard of the hotels was excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurants and food were brilliant, not least the picnics prepared by our guides. Whilst we are all reasonably fit, we do not cycle normally but thoroughly enjoyed the well planned routes and spectacular scenery. We felt throughout that our charming, organized and above all friendly tour guides top priority was for us to have the best holiday and we did! Thank you Siciclando.

We enjoyed our trip. The organisation was perfect and the accomodation were all excellent and sometimes fascinating. The cycling was heavy (we are living in a total flat country), but the food, the wine and the kindness of Sicily makes everything fine!

This was an amazing way to experience Sicily. The Siciclando team are extremely professional and friendly. I can easily recommend a tour with them. A highlight for us was Paulo’s beautiful food at B&B Rocca Dei Capperi. Yum!!!!!

I’ve done several tours with Siciclando to Sicily and the Basilicata region of Italy. The routes were very scenic and the towns along the way were interesting. The cycling was challenging at times but not intimidating. The accommodations and the meals included in the tours were very very good for the tour price. This is not Butterfield and Robinson where they pamper you. Siciclando tours are best suited for cyclists with some touring experience that like a little adventure. I’ve cycled with Ciclismo Classico and Siciclando provides comparable touring but at much lower cost.

Our tour leader and co-founder of Siciclando, Giuseppe Crino’, did a great job with our group tour. The hotels,inns and farm houses were very nice, the food and wine was incredible, and the scenery was gorgeous. We were lucky to see so many wild flowers along our routes. e would definitely do another trip with Giuseppe!

My husband and I have done 4 cycling trips in Europe and by far Siciclando has been our favorite! Very laid back, personal attraction, and Sicily is a beautiful country. We would recommend the Spring- the wild flowers were spectacular!!

We have taken 2 tours with Siciclando and have had a great experience both times. The routes that are chosen and the accommodations are just the type we love. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company for a bike tour.

Siciclando and particularly its leader, Giuseppe Crino provided the best biking vacation that any of our group of 4 couples have ever experienced (and we’ve all been on multiple tours with the big, name-brand operators). The food was out of this world, Sicily’s scenery and roads incredible and the accomodations charming . What put the trip over the top was its owner/ride leader Giuseppe. Besides being on top of every detail, his charm, sense of humor and friendship made this a most memorable trip. We recommend Siciclando to anyone who asks. We’re planning to ride with Giuseppe and Siciclando again.

Our first trip with Sicicalando was in Sicily and we were so impressed with Giuseppe that we requested that he organized a trip for a similar group in southern Italy. On both trips we enjoyed his company, excellent organization skills, sence of humour, professionalism and well chosen choices for meals and accomodations. Giuseppe is a great guide and we look forward to our next trip with him.

Our bike trip in Sicily was fantastic, due to the routes guiding provided by Siciclando. Food: first rate – from restaurants to private inns, it was wonderful. Lodging: Good to excellent inns. Guiding: Our charming host, Giuseppe, provided descriptions and background as well as excellent routes through the Sicilian countryside. Value: A+.

When I first read the Siciclando web site I was moved by the passion that the owners have for their country, for biking, and for the experience they offer. It was inviting, the idea of exploring quieter places of Italy by bike. I was reassured of my choice even before the tour when questions and logistical concerns were handled quickly and professionally by co-owner, Dario Carzan. On tour, I realized the words from their web site went much deeper; their words are really their promise to each guest. They love what they do and they sincerely want to share their passion. The guides were exceptional and are attentive to every detail – good bikes, quiet routes, beautiful towns/accommodations, and wonderful picnics. Dario was one of our guides and made the tour very special. One day he (carefully) prepared prickly pear cactus fruit growing along side the road and on another day he translated stories from an Italian man who had lived seventy years in a hill top village where we biked.

Excellent communications,personal welcome and service, very good bikes, a wonderfully eclectic mix of accommodation [nearly all small, family run], mainly very good, welcoming & comfortable. [If you want predictable chain hotels & satellite TV, go elsewhere] Some truly memorable meals & lovely characters in agriturismos. Road books fine – realistic route & difficulty description with plenty of cultural additions for interest and great refreshment recommendations! Small ‘hiccups’ dealt with efficiently. We’ve been to Sicily twice [self guided] with this company and LOVE the island, especially the interior, and their approach. Although we had one day with a really grotty choice of route last year we’re still giving them 5 stars ~ we told them they made a mistake. We love Giuseppe & the Darios!! What makes them different? They are all cyclists and they are exceptionally proud of Sicily. You aren’t dealing with a ‘blanket’ company which just buys tours from other people. These guys are the real deal.

An excellent tour of western Sicily, with lots of small towns and archeological sights. Some days were hilly, but generally not long mileage, leaving time for sightseeing. Our guide, Giuseppe Crino, was very knowledgeable and attentive. Bikes had good gearing for the hills, but were relatively heavy.(New bikes are planned, I believe.) Course directions were generally good

We have been on dozens of bike tours over the past 30 years and the four tours we have done with Siciclando in Sicily and Basilicata (Italy) are amongst the very best ever. Giuseppe Crino (Mr. Siciclando) is a fine gentleman and even more, he offers some of the best planned bike trips anywhere. Sicily and southern Italy are outstandingly beautiful in the Spring with wildflowers, deserted country roads, excellent accommodations and superb food. Siciclando offers tours for groups as small as 2 people. My wife and I have done two of these cycling all by ourselves, but always with an emergency number to call. We have also been on two trips with 20 participants run through our bike club (BAC) and these have been given rave reviews by all. If you love cycle touring, visit Sicily before it gets ‘discovered’.

Really excellent, well planned trip, very well organized guides. Not only were the obvious items (hotels, bike routes) well planned, they paid great attention to the small details. They even put lemon slices in the water bottles!

Just finished a wonderful bike tour through Tuscany last May with Siciclando and had an incredibly fun time. Our guide, Dario, was wonderful and incredibly accommodating and fun. The lodging, food and bike route were beyond my expectations and I will be talking about this trip for a long time. I plan on doing a trip again with them in the next couple years..

The tour was excellent and so well planned. Our guide Paola was a great host, full of lots of interesting stories and fun to be with. The bike routes were great and we really felt like we got to see a nice cross-section of South Eastern Sicily, plus the added bonus of cycling around Mt. Etna, relaxing in Taoromina and then relaxing on the beautiful island of Salina. We faced the challenge of riding a tandem bike, clipped in, and loved it!

I have done several bike tours with Siciclando. Each time is better than the previous one. My last one (A taste of Sicily) was FANTASTIC. The food,the wine and above all the people from Sicily made this tour an unforgetable trip (Will the next one be better?) I came to a conclusion: A tour with Siciclando is not about a bike trip.It is about a life experience!

We were a group of 8 at different skill levels planning of week of varied activity in Sicily. Siciclando did a tremendous job working out the details and itinerary for this bespoke trip. The execution was flawless. Even better, the attention to the details, to our well being, and to ensuring that we were all satisfied was at the highest level. There were many times where we had to adjust and make changes and the Siciclando team supported and responded perfectly. Siciclando is a great tour company, owned and operated by people who are very knowledgeable, involved, responsive, proactive, committed, and caring. We loved our time in Sicily, on the bikes, and being with our guides. Siciclando can be recommended without any reservations at all.

Our trip last October with Siciclando was outstanding. Every detail was well attended to and enhanced our experience in discovering Sicily. Authentic,well paced,well organized-couldn’t be better. Ascending to the top of Mt. Etna was an unforgettable experience that capped off a week of touring the highlights of Sicily, cycling, and savouring one culinary treat after another.
