Easy Rider Tours

Easy Rider Tours

This company has been providing tours "off the beaten path" for many years. They specialize in Ireland, Portugal and Spain, as well as New England and Canada. By offering tours in unusual regions such as the Azores, and Portugal's Costa Azul, they are able to keep their costs down.

In addition, they do provide certain amenities which other companies don't, including wine at dinner and transportation to/from the airport at selected times. (We sure wish more companies would provide that!). The rides are somewhat longer than with most companies (although there are shorter options) and they provide a "Club Series" with daily rides of 50-70+ miles.

We did an EASY RIDER tour on PEIsland in Sept 2018 as a self guided trip for 6 nights. Route was well mapped out and explained via map and directions. Lodgings were excellent……….from quaint to more modern to superb accommodations. We enjoyed the history, museums, and culture (attending 2 theatrical performances), the natural setting and the beauty of the coastline. The route included all of the above features

I would recommend this company as one that follows through with all that is promised

I just completed my third self-guided trip (New England, West Coast of Ireland, Prince Edward Island), and have had only great experiences. Jim Goldberg can’t take responsibility for the tremendous weather I’ve had every time, but his accommodations and directions are reliable and solid, and sometimes spectacular. He is always responsive and friendly, and flexible about helping tailor trips to my schedule (including arranging shorter trips). The bikes have always been completely reliable and problem-free, and his arrangements with guides/transportation have been great.

We are in our 60s from Sydney Australia and have now done three tours with Easy Rider. Autumn in the Berkshires, Coastal New England and just recently Prince Edward Island. All were excellent, top quality bikes, interesting and varied itineraries with optional daily distances, top class accommodation and as they say….Ride to Eat and Eat to Ride. The guides were always attentive, showed great care and good humour. Highly recommended!

I have taken five Easy Rider tours over 28 years. Jim Goldberg is a superb leader who puts his whole heart and efforts into every detail. I especially appreciate the materials and personal briefings he provides on history and culture of the areas covered by the rides. He is also adept and caring to solve any personal issues that may arise. I recommend Easy Rider without reservation.

We just finished the El Camino tour from León to Santiago. Guided with support van/two guides. As challenging as you wanted it to be and absolutely outstanding staff and equipment. Lodging was very good, meals outstanding, a wonderful trip/experience. We felt safe and even though it was an 8 day experience we did not feel shortchanged in the least(the rest of the group did 12 days from Burgos). Highly recommend this company.

Just completed our second trip with Easy Rider. This was a group tour on Prince Edward Island. Every thing about the trip was first class. Excellent accomodations and dining. The organization, support and guides all were great. Highly recommended.

Re: tour of Prince Edward Island This was a bucket list experience for me and my wife. Jim (the owner) and Ian–who knows the Island like the back of his hand–were exemplary leaders. The bikes were rugged and well suited to the rides. The rides themselves were not long or steep, but they were challenging in the steady winds. Accommodations were excellent, and a spirit of camaraderie prevailed.

We went to Portugal and biked The Alentejo region on a self guided tour. It was a great trip. Our support materials were informative and impeccable. Our accomodations were fanastic and the logistics near perfect. The office staff helped us above and beyond with information about Portugal. They couldn’t have been nicer.

Highly engaged and professional guides who can cater to any level of rider. Accommodations and restaurants are hand-selected by the guides, who are countrymen, keeping you in high style. We took the Portugal Algarve tour, which was easy-moderate in terrain, and it was the perfect week to spend with your teenagers.

Led by the most capable, friendly, and entertaining guides – Vitor & Gonçalo – this adventure was a fantastic way to savor the wonderful country of Portugal. Great accommodations and incredible food were our rewards each day.

What a fabulous trip! One of the best biking experiences we’ve ever had. Easy Rider Tours is a first class outfit. We’re still telling all of our friends about it and would highly recommend it to anyone. Can’t wait to do it again. Jim and his wife couldn’t have been more accommodating. This was a self guided tour and we had 2-3 routes to choose from every day depending on the degree of difficulty we were up for. The directions were excellent, easy to follow and included tidbits of history to look out for. The routes selected kept us off any busy streets and let us truly enjoy the coast and the New England country side. If you’re a history buff, this is a great way to meander through colonial America and take it all in. Nightly accommodations at Inns and B&B’s were outstanding.

This was our 5th cycling trip and the best one ever! The staff that helped us plan the trip was wonderful and ready to help us with anything and everything! The trip itself was very well organized with lots of good cycling and site seeing. Meals and picnics and museum tickets included in the price was an added bonus. .. We have traveled with VBT twice, Classic Adventures once, and almost went to Spain this spring with Ciclisimo Classico but they cancelled the trip and we found Easy Rider instead!

I’ve taken trips (over 40) with all the major companies and Easy Rider is the best value by far. Plenty of challenging riding if you want it, excellent support, great accomodations (although you’ll generally get a 2-star hotel along with the 3-4s) and unlimited selection of dinner items from the menu plus wine included.

We have done dozens of bicycle trips over the years but have always returned to Easy Riders (9 tours) because of the quality of its trips. A great deal of thought and preparation has been put into each trip beginning with the pre-trip orientation information. Of all the tours we have done, we have only repeated one trip and that was the Camino de Santiago tour. It is prototypical of all the Easy Rider trips…magnificent itinerary, terrific knowledgeable guides, excellent SAG support, 3*+ accommodations, and always marvelous local cuisine usually directly off the menu including wine. And the local picnics they provide are only another plus.

We’ve taken three bike tours (Azores, Andalucia, Portugal) in the last 20 years, all with Easy Rider Tours. I highly recommend this owner-operated company for the reason that we keep coming back: Easy Rider consistently creates a great vacation. Each bike tour has been phenomenal yet balanced: well-planned for the novice and the serious rider, terrific routes providing a great mix of culture, history and natural beauty run by knowledgeable local guides who like good food and have a welcome sense of humor. Easy Rider specializes in Portugal. And the tour of the Azores is a true high point, unlike anything I’ve done before or since. I can still see the hydrangeas in bloom, riding the rim of an ancient caldera, the ocean visible at every turning point.

Every day on an Easy Rider tour is a treat. Scenic routes, knowledgeable and helpful office staff and guides, exceptional lodging and meals, wonderful picnics and points of interest along the way. Lots of fun with old and new friends. We have toured PEI, Nova Scotia and Ireland with Easy Rider Tours and we highly recommend them. Prepare to be spoiled. You will definately get your money’s worth.

We have gone on three tours with Easy Rider, and have found them a wonderful bike company to travel with. Our two tours in Portugal, Costa Azul and Grape Escape, were especially memorable. The cycling, comraderie, scenery, lodgings, food, wine, and our native tour guides were all excellent. In fact, by using native guides, we feel Easy Rider sets themselves apart from some other tour companies. Portugal is a wonderful country to see on bicycle, and we know in our hearts we will return again someday.

The company offers routes that are truly unique and very thoughtfully planned. The accommodations range from very good to magical. The highly competent local guides are friendly and take genuine pleasure in introducing you to their country. Compared to other companies Easy Rider’s trips give you a lot of bike adventure for the buck!

Jim Goldberg’s 25+ years of bike touring experience in Portugal were evident in our 12 riding day trip through the west and south coasts of the Alentejo and Algarve regions of Portugal in May. Lots of idyllic by-ways through countryside, coasts and inland hills combined with excellent GPS tracks, cue sheets and daily route reviews made for great biking. Accommodations were anything but mundane, including a horse ranch in Cercal, a picturesque hillside windmill neighborhood of Odeceixe, Pousadas converted from a palace in Estoi, and a convent in Tavira were elegant and added to a sense of a cultural connection. Vitor and Gonçalo, Portuguese natives and long term Easy Rider guides, engaging, gracious, intelligent added great insight to understanding the history and the current day life in Portugal as well as keeping van, luggage and bike support flowing smoothly. Combined with the warmth of the Portuguese people, food and wines, country and architecture, stunning seascapes and 2000 years of history, it is hard to imagine a better bike tour.

I have taken three tours with Easy Riders. I like them because I think they hit the sweet spot between too spartan and too luxurious, and between too easy and too challenging. The pace of the routes and even the pace of the week’s activities are well thought out.

My daughter and I participated in a tour that traveled along the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain. I selected the company because I could locate no other bike tour company that traveled along this route. The company was well organized and responsive to emails. The accommodations were the best that the region has to offer, and the meals organized by the company were all excellent. The bikes provided were also of very good quality and were very well suited for the terrain. I strongly endorse the company and this particular tour.
