Bike & the Like

Bike & the Like

This company provides guided tours in both the U.S., Holland and Germany. You will get hands-on service, as the trips are personally hosted by an American couple that has led over 130 tours in the past 20 years. Their keep their prices down (way down!) in Europe by providing barge trips so your accomodations don't change every night. You will still ride a hearty 40 miles a day, unlike many barge trips that provide only minimal riding. Touring in the U.S. is also a great way to save money, especially with current exchange rates, and these guys are experts in California (Pacific Coast/Napa), and the Northeastern Seaboard. Awards include "Voted Best by Bicycling Magazine" (Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket) and "Bicycling Magazine 15 Bike Trips We Love" (C & O Canal: Along the Potomac River)

Pros: Great food and comfy accommodations, budget pricing, nice people.

Cons: Suzie is a chaotic ride leader…sudden stops and turns with no calling out. Her spastic style puts everyone on edge. Doesn’t know where she is going half the time. Seasoned riders will be frustrated! Speed between 6-8mph, which was too slow for me.

When weather was too bad to ride, we walked and she doesn’t say how far (6-8 miles at a time), which is a lot for people who don’t walk a lot…and extremely fast walking! Doesn’t do head counts and loses people (one didn’t see us get on a train).

Will be doing self guided bike tours in the future.

Suzie and Roger with Bike and the Like are the ultimate hosts for a bike tour. They are there to help every step of the way; including leading and providing SAG support. It’s not your typical bike tour – they always find things to stop, see, and explore along the routes; including setting up city tours or special local tours. If you want a bike tour that is not about how many miles you can ride in a day but you want to take in the flavor of the area and explore, then Bike and the Like is for you. I highly recommend them. I have done several tours with them, both in the U.S and abroad. I’m looking forward to my next tour coming up in October this year.

Gosh, surprised to see so many positive reviews. They had no SAG support, lost cyclists and while pleasant people, they proved to bee deeply dishonest and untrustworthy. Even some of their fans were horrified as to how poorly they ran the Wine Country trip. Buyer beware!

This was our 2nd tour with Suzie and Roger. They are great! Cue sheets are easy to follow. They can handle my request for handicapped accessible hotel room, and they can bring my knee walker with the luggage. Some tour companies do not have room for my knee walker in their luggage space. Because most riding days are under 50 miles, I can handle the mileage.

I have gone on 3 trips with Bike and the Like, all different. Different destinations, different seasons, different riding terrains, different riders. But there was one thing that was consistent – and that was the quality of the experience. EXCELLENT!!! Great riding routes with precise cue sheets, great hotels, great food, great ‘extras’ (like kayaking and other activities). Roger and Suzie put their personal touch on every trip. I highly recommend their bike trips – I have already signed up for my 4th trip.

I’ve been on two trips with Bike and the like . I did their C&O tour . Suzie and Roger bend over backwards to make your trip special . It was my first ever tour and during the year they even offered training advice . I had such a good time I booked their Cape Cod. Again I had a wonderful time . You truly become one of the family.

Simply The BEST. Best prices, best service, great people and good food. I’ve done 4 tours with them and many many with other companies. No one else offers any thing like the value provided by Suzie and Roger at Bike and the Like.

I’ve recently registered for my fourth trip with Bike and the Like Bicycle Tour Company. I enjoy the friendly, relaxed leadership and small group of 40 cyclists. The choice of hotels are in classic locations, where possible (Misquamicut Beach, view of surf fishermen just outside the window; 100 year old San Remo Hotel, three blocks from the Wharf in San Fracisco; Hotel on the beach in Provincetown). Freedom to bicycle at your own speed (using route maps and cell phone connection to a SAG vehicle) allows photo opportunities, Museum visits and optional extra mileage. I’ve made many friends on these tours.

Sign up early if you want to tour with Bike and the Like! We have done six Bike and the Like tours including: Cape Cod (twice), Cape May, Rhode Island, California, and Northern Holland. Each trip included ‘veterans’ of past trips who appreciate the well-planned routes, interesting and unique accommodations and unbeatable bang for the buck. Suzie and Roger are great tour guides: they personally offer a wealth of knowledge of the sites on each trip; look out for your safety; and encourage a friendly social environment.

… I’ve done a number of Bike and the Like’s tours and each time I go, the ‘going’ gets better. Suzie has spent hours re-routing bicycle cue sheets to be the safest and most scenic, finding the most bicycle-friendly lodging, negotiating with other small family-owned eateries and tweaking her itineraries to find the ‘nooks and crannies’ of the area. Thanks Bike and the Like for continuing to support my bicycle habit!

A perfect biking vacation! Experienced, knowledgeable ride leaders who instantly turn a group of strangers into a circle of friends; interesting and varied routes; great side trips; wonderful food; I can’t think of anything Bike and the Like can do to improve. My wife and I had the time of our lives, thanks to Suzie and Roger!

My partner and I were fortunate to participate in one of the Holland trips March of 2013 and we could not have had a more positive and enjoyable experience. Susie and Roger were fantastic hosts, the food and accommodations were much better than we had anticipated and the folks in our group have become real friends. As a rider who so appreciated the custom fitted bike, Roger’s patience as I was sometimes the back of the pack and Susie’s wonderful pick of routes, we have since registered for another trip this September in Cape Cod. I would recommend to anyone who wants a great trip, go with Roger and Susie! 🙂

We road last spring with Roger and Suzie on their Bike and Barge Holland trip and although the weather was uncooperative the ride was spectacular. Suzie knows the bike lanes of Holland like no other and Roger was always there with a helping hand. The group was fun, fun, fun! The barge was very clean, the food fabulous and the crew wonderful. We had such a great time we are joining them again this fall on their Cape Cod trip, which we missed last year as it filled up so quickly. Thank you, Suzie and Roger, for a great trip and we look forward to seeing you on the Cape for another grand adventure!

Suzie and Roger are terrific hosts and a pleasure to travel with. I love that I don’t have to think about lodging, meals and the itinerary. All I have to do is pedal and enjoy the scenery!

I have been on 6 trips with Bike and the Like, I have never seen any negative conversations between Suzie and Roger. You could not ask for a better set of guides with the knowledge & experience as Suzie and Roger. These trips are affordable, educational, and fun. Meals are great and you never go away hungry. You could not set up a better vacation on your own with so many things to do. I have been on other bike tours and you will not find a better bang for your buck.

I have done 7 trips with Bike and the Like – Holland, Spain, Canada and 4 United States locations. I have enjoyed every minute of these bike tours. Suzie and Roger make every effort to accommodate each rider – all with our “unique personalities” and varying riding abilities. Suzie’s leadership and energy, combined with Roger’s mechanical ability and steadiness combine for a great trip every time. I have met so many people and have retained many as lifetime friends. My life was truly enriched by these tours.
Bike and the Like is the “best of the best” in my book.
