A group of us tour the Alto Alentejo tour with A2Z self guided during the fall of 2011. I have taken 10 bike trips over the years and found A2Z service above the rest. I had asked for a trip with little to no traffic, small unique hotels and quaint villages. A2Z delivered on all it. We stayed in unique places including a Pousada and a Convent. The roads had very little traffic. Directions and the GPS were perfect and we never got lost. A2Z gave us a phone and checked up on us nightly to see how things were going and tell us about the ride the next day. I would highly recommend A2Z! They were awesome!

Our trip was excellent. The route we had chosen was suitable for our group with respect to length for each day and the altitude profiles. The organization of our trip was also good with beautifful surroundings and interesting hotelles with new setting every day. I will never forget the the old medieval fortress Obidos and the accommodation. We may have been happy about the timing as vel, seen the midsummer eve, the São João in Porto and the dancing in Nazare. In adition we had nice weather. But as it was mentioned, this is the normal weather at this time of the year.

Spain was our third experience with A2Z. Portugal and Argentina made the other two. Although each trip had a different atmosphere we enjoyed all of them. A2Z had not let us down in the past and it was no different here. In trips like that, the interaction with the guides is a critical element and i think it is A2Z’s main strength. Nuno, Martinho, Tiago, Jaime, and the 2 Pedros were born to guide! They can handle most of the weird situations that surface in these contexts given the extensive interaction that people are subject to. Overall, i am very greatful to A2Z for the good time I had in those three locations and i look forward into my 4th experience in Turkey with their trustable guides.

If you like long rides, this is the tour for you! A2Z only rents hybrids, which makes 65 miles a lot longer than on a road bike. The scenery was great, and we had by far the best accommodations of any tour we’ve done.

Service right from my initial enquiry about their tours to the delivering to my hotel in Lisbon at the end of the tour could not be faultede. Was always made to feel that I was the most important client of theirs. The bike provided was good, route notes extensive and easy to follow.

Cycling along the Portuguese coast and through small historical towns and national parks for a week was the best honeymoon we could possibly imagine. Luggage and transportation service, hotel selection, and navigation assistance (GPS and paper directions) were all fantastic, and we are looking forward to our next trip with A2Z Adventures! Guide being able to recognize and deal with the weaknesses and the strengths of the group, manage delicate situations, showing a lot of knowledge on what A2Z proposes to do. This makes the trip fun, special and unforgettable. The route chosen by A2Z is full of subtleties, I am sure I have experienced places and things that very feel people have experienced or will experience in a trip!

The staff at A2Z Adventures was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The tour was a good combination of historical and cultural/religious sites such as Fatima and the Batalha Monastery and natural beauty such as the Pine forest and the Coast. It was a great way to travel and see parts of the country which you would not normally see on a guided bus tour, while spending time outdoors and getting a good workout.

Outstanding tours–well-planned, well-executed, and most important–so very much fun! Pedro Pedrosa has been our guide twice, and he really makes the tour, whether biking in Portugal or back-packing in the Alps, an uplifting experience, handling all the details and introducing you to local foods and customs, and meeting wonderful people who remain in your memories long after you’re home.

We had the most fabulous road riding trip in Portugal with Pedro and Marco. Our whole trip was delightful and very well organized. Everything from the choice of routes to the set up of our bikes was first class. I would recommend a trip like ours as it was awesome!

I was lucky enough to go on the inagural Pyrenees tour with A2Z Adventures. The trip was amazing. Tremendous riding, great guides, wonderful places to stay, it truly was the best cycling trip I have taken (and I have taken numerous trips in North America and Europe). The Pedros (Carvalho and Pedrosa)were great. I can’t wait to travel with them again.

Great company. We just did a bike tour in the Alto Alentejo in Portugal and can’t say enough good things about the guides, the routes, the organization and the accommodation. We’ll definitely plan another trip with A2Z!

This was the best active vacation ever! It was some fun & challenging mountain biking for a week through beautiful villages and castles and rural areas of Portugal. And no matter how hard we rode, we couldn’t help but gain weight from all the great food (& wine). Our two guides were a lot more like our friends on the trip with us than just our guides. I would recommend this company for any of their mountain or road bike trips. I hope I have the chance to do another trip with them.

The port wine bike tour through the historical villages of northern Portugal was superb. Our guides accommadated our every request, the meals, either in our hotels or in village restaurants, were outstanding and the owners always wanting to know if everything was perfect. The places we stayed were delightful-small, clean, quiet with wonderful breakfasts. Highly recommended.

Our 9-day biking trip through Portugal with A2Z was an unforgettable experience. The itinerary was well planned, the accommodations were beautiful, the food was delicious and the guides were a lot of fun! Our rides each day were as challenging or relaxing as we wanted them to be and the A2Z team gave individual attention to everyone on the trip. I would highly recommend A2Z and hope to travel with them again one day!

I took a trip with A2Z last fall in rural Portugal. There were a few of the usual mishaps associated with fast dirt riding – a few scrapes and bruises – but everything that was in our guides’ control was perfect; hotels and transport were all ready when we needed them, and man the meals! We had breakfast and dinner provided, and many were upscale buffet style – endless piles of beautiful veggies, beans, fish and meat. Wine, too. Lunches were a joy, also. Our guides always knew of the best little cafe to stop at for a beer, sandwich or coffee. Riders who got tired were welcomed to ride in the van the remainder of the way. There was no pressure to tough anything out, and by the end we were all friends. Definitely a company I’d recommend.

The best of the best. Pedro and crew go out of their way to show you the local highlights and flavor. Pedro is an experience cycyist himself and is able to anticipate all the challenges that may arise. Apart from this he and Filipa are genuinely fun to spend time with and have a great pride in both their country and providing a memorable trip in which to discover it. First class experience.

Simply the best bike tour company on the planet. A group of us took the Portugal tour this past September. Clearly the owners had spent considerable time and effort choosing routes, hotels and local restaurants. The hospitality was first class. I would recommend this tour company.

We had a fantastic 2 weeks with A2Z in Portugal and would certainly recommend them. They are extremely well organised and take you to places you would never find on your own. Accommodation was above average (especially for a bike tour) and the food was exceptional.

We just finished a 6 day trip from Porto to Lisbon, Sept 18-24, 2012. It was one of the best experiences we have ever had. Our guides, Joana and Hugo were excellent! They were very knowledgeable about their beautiful country and proud to share it with us. The places we visited were both historic and scenic and the food and wine were first class. We hope to do another bike trip with them again soon!

We chose the self-guided tour option and had requested a slightly customized routing from the advertised routing, and couldn’t have been happier with the trip. We had a (great) guide drive us from Lisbon to the starting point, and she also shadowed us on our test ride that day to make sure the equipment was working. The printed turn-by-turn daily directions were accurate and incredibly helpful (and reflected our customized route), as was the preprogrammed GPS unit, and A2Z chose great back-country roads for almost every part of each day’s route. The lodging choices were very comfortable, and we had no issues at all with luggage transfers, nor with the rental bikes we used. We were provided with a cell phone in case we had any issues, and never had to use it (except when the guide would call in daily to check in). Everyone was very responsive, and A2Z was more than willing to pick us up and drop us off at non-standard locations in Lisbon.
